Gatecrashers force police to shut down MOBO after-party

GO HOME: Police shut down the MOBO after-party

THE MOBO awards 2014 came to an abrupt end on Wednesday night (Oct 22), after police were called to close down the after-party.

Held at the Hilton Hotel near the SSE Arena, Wembley, where the ceremony had been broadcast live earlier in the evening, a number of officers were situated in the entrance after security struggled to keep uninvited revellers out of the party, reported the Mail Online.

The party was packed with VIP guests including host Sarah-Jane Crawford, as well as other celebrities who attended the ceremony.

According to The Sun, Crawford's co-host, former Spice Girl Mel B, and her husband Stephen Belafonte "struggled" to get into the building due to the crowd of gatecrashers trying to push their way in.

Before the party was shut down, old school garage fans got a treat when MC Harvey and MC Romeo took to the stage to perform So Solid Crew's hit 21 Seconds which was a huge crowd pleaser.

Shortly after their performance at around 12.30am, police officers closed the party down.

A MOBOs spokesperson said: "Due to the party's popularity, towards the end of the night there was a minor incident outside involving lots of people trying to get in at the same time, which was quickly dealt with."

Guest were also allegedly smoking cannabis on the premises.
