BEHEADED: Gary Emanuel Smith
THE HEADLESS body of a man was discovered in Jamaica yesterday (July 24), the fourth in the last 14 days.
The decapitated body of Gary Emanuel Smith was found on a dirt track in the Bedward Gardens area of St Andrew.
The 37-year-old’s beheading is the fourth to hit the Caribbean island in last two weeks. Last Wednesday (July 11) the headless body of an 18-year-old man was found in St Catherine and two days later (July 13) a mother and daughter were found beheaded in their Spanish Town home.
Police believe that Smith was hauled from his Bedwards Gardens home by his attackers on Friday (July 15). He was found with a single gunshot wound to his leg. His head has yet to be recovered by police.
A police officer at the scene told the Jamaican Observer: "We can't find [his head] anywhere; it looks like they left with it. Normally, you could follow the blood trail or see the flash of blood if they threw it, but we didn't see any of that.”
