Footage shows moment bus driver stabbed in eye by pedestrian

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING a serious assault on a bus driver in Bromley, have released CCTV of the horrifying attack.

The footage of the incident, which took place on June 30 at 5pm on board a 227 bus on High Street, Penge, shows the 41-year-old bus driver forcibly applying his brakes when the suspect - holding the hand of a child and accompanied by another male with a dog - walked in front of the bus.

The suspect kicked out at the doors of the bus as it passed after being challenged by the bus driver.

The bus driver continued his journey, but was held at a red light signal and saw the suspect running towards the open window of his cab.

The suspect attacked the bus driver with a Stanley knife, causing a puncture wound to his eye, before making off towards Cottingham Road.

The suspect is described as black male, thought to be in his early 20s with afro hair, wearing a bright blue tracksuit.

The bus driver was taken to hospital and received treatment for the wound.
