'Faith in God saw me through family tragedy'

FAITH: Singer Jennifer Hudson has said her faith in God helped her overcome family tragedy

SINGER JENNIFER Hudson said it was her faith in God that saw her overcome the tragic loss of her family members who were killed in 2008.

Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were murdered by her sister's partner, William Baflour, in a shocking triple homicide.

Baflour, charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the case, goes to trial next month, and Hudson may be called to testify.

Speaking on what helped her through the ordeal Hudson told ABC's Today program: "Definitely it's my faith in God and growing up -- my mother, even though she's not here now, she trained us well".

In her new memoir I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, the Spotlight hit-maker claims her faith also influenced her career saying she began singing when she joined her church choir.
