Fabrice given the all clear

ALL SMILES: (Muamba, centre)

BOLTON WANDERERS footballer Fabrice Muamba has been discharged from The London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green, east London, almost exactly a month after collapsing during a match.

Muamba, 24, suffered a cardiac arrest at White Hart Lane on March 17 during an FA Cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.

The ex-England Under-21 international’s heart failed to beat unaided for almost two hours.

However, he has made a miraculous recovery and has been given the all clear to return home to his family.

"I am naturally very pleased to be discharged from hospital and would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to every single member of staff at The London Chest Hospital who have played a part in my care,” said Muamba In a joint statement with the Barts Health NHS Trust.

"Their dedication, professionalism and expertise is simply amazing and I will forever be in their debt. I also wish to say thank you to all the many well-wishers who have sent thousands of messages of support.”

Muamba added: "Now I am out of hospital, I am looking forward to continuing my recovery and spending precious time with my family."
