Exclusive screening of 'Black Panther' at Stratford East

ANTICIPATED: Black Panther

IN PARTNERSHIP with Newham Community Cinema and supported by Near Neighbours Fund, The New Black Film Collective will be hosting an exclusive screening of Black Panther at Stratford East Picturehouse on February 13.

The Marvel movie, directed by Ryan Coogler, is set after the death of T'Challa's father, as he returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.

Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.

The screening will also included a panel discussion hosted by Akua Gyamfi, and will include Steve Toussaint (Actor), Mark One (Filmmaker), Charmaine Simpson (Black History Studies).

An African market will also take place on the night, featuring music, dance, tribal body painting, Black Panther literature from New Beacon Books and much more.
