Drake is Canada's second 'most searched' musician on Google

HIP-HOP STAR Drake is Canada's second "most searched musician" on Google, it has been revealed.

The Thank Me Later star, who has sold over five million albums worldwide and notched up 12 number one singles, was pipped to the post by teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber, according to Zeitgeist 2012, the search engine's annual list of most popular searches and search trends throughout the year. The round-up also revealed that a Google search on the pint-sized Baby star spurned 631,000,000 results in .14 seconds.

Bieber's protégé Carly Rae Jepsen, rock band Hedley and EDM artist deadmau5 rounded out the Top Five. Jepsen also placed eighth in terms of "Trending Celebrities."

Globally, Drake and Bieber made the top ten list with Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Adele and Taylor Swift. Whitney Houston placed fourth behind Drake, but ahead of Rihanna.

Houston also topped the "Trending Celebrities" list.

According to the site, the survey was the result of an aggregation of some trillion searches with data used from multiple sources, Google Trends and internal data tools.
