WHEN I first saw the sign for Kittitian Hill and drove through the forest to the front desk, I still had no idea of what was to come. From there the golf cart took us up a scenic path to the main hotel.

Getting that first glimpse of the view that awaited was almost nostalgic; the colonial inspired architecture, the expansive views beyond the infinity pool, this luxury boutique hotel is what dreams are made of.

Imagine taking a dip in your private plunge pool overlooked by your heavenly bed while admiring the Atlantic Ocean along the horizon. The chic restaurant offers fresh food from their onsite Belle Mont farm.

The majestic Brimstone Hill Fortress is a well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site offering historical value and incredible views of the mountains behind and the ocean in front with 5 islands visible in the distance, on a clear day.

Frigate bay is a hotspot for both locals and tourists. Stay in the luxurious St Kitts Marriott Resort on the north bay and stroll down to The Strip on the Caribbean sea where you will find plenty of restaurants and bars set along the white sand beach.

You must try the steamed fish at Boozies on the Beach or simply “lime” after a swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters. Blue Water Safari hosted a magical Sunday afternoon sailing trip called Jazz ‘n Lime on board their catamaran.

Whilst swaying with the waves with a coconut in my hand, the legendary saxophonist Courtney Pine performed a live unplugged jazz set before our snorkelling pitstop in Shitten Bay. I was amazed at the marine life I witnessed: enchanting pipefish, a family of squid and a multitude of colourful fish to admire.

For the thrill seekers, ziplining with Sky Safari is buzzing and surprisingly comfortable. Soaring at 250 feet above the trees at a speed of up to 80 km per hour, I managed to hold on and make a selfie video on my phone with mountains to my right and ocean to my left. Christophe Harbour is a luxury residential and resort community in the southeastern peninsula. Their Pavilion Restaurant offered gourmet bliss as well as pool and beachside perfection: ideal for an impromptu photoshoot!

Afterwards, sunset cocktails at Salt Plage, while laying in a net hammock over the water, were in order.

Just when you thought you had all the ingredients for a great holiday, St Kitts also knows how to party: Q holidays has packages to St Kitts Music Festival (27 June - 1 July 2018) starting from £1,090pp based on travel on 27 June for seven nights in a mountain view room in Timothy Beach Resort.
