Couple stabbed in Tottenham for denying robbers mobile phone

CRIME SCENE: The couple were set upon in Downhills Park Road, Tottenham

A COUPLE were stabbed by a two masked thugs when they refused to hand over a mobile phone.

The victims, a 24-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend were sitting on a bench in Downhills Park Road, Tottenham, north London, when they were approached by the suspects who were wearing scarves to cover their faces.

The pair demanded the man’s phone, but he refused and the couple tried to move away. It was then that both suspects produced knives. The male victim was then stabbed repeatedly in the back. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

The woman suffered a cut to her hand in the attack, though her injuries are not serious.

Both suspects, described by police as “black, aged about 20 and both were wearing scarves across their faces”, fled the scene.

There have been no arrests at this time and a crime scene is in place.
