DEATH: Ronald Harrison
A MAN who painted Jesus Christ as a black man has died just before the release of the release of his new highly anticipated art collection.
Ronald Harrison, who is famed for his controversial painting of a black Jesus Christ, passed away in Cape Town, South Africa last week (June 28.)
It has been reported that the former cancer suffer died from complications following his illness.
The 71-year-old’s banned artwork depicts Nobel Peace Prize winner, Chief Albert Luthuli on a cross next to the architect of apartheid, Hendrik Verwoerd and former minister of justice, John Vorster, both painted as Roman soldiers.
Harrison, who was arrested over the painting by apartheid officials in 1962, recently completed work on an art collection planned for exhibition in North Cape, Summer 2011.
