Community stalwart passes away

R.I.P: Ivan Bobby Martin

IVAN BOBBY MARTIN passed away July 16 2018. He was a Community Engagement & Gang Intervention Advisor as well as a Motivational Speaker.

Bobby previously worked for over 13 years in the prison estate managing staff and delivery behaviour programmes for substance misuse related offenders.

He was also Chair of RESPECT for London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex. This involved supporting staff who were victims of direct and institutional racism within the UK prison system.

Bobby was also a trained Conflict Engagement Specialist and also an Independent Peer Reviewer for the UK Home Office's Ending Gang & Youth Violence Team.

His advice was sought in the aftermath of the August 2011 riots in Tottenham and he was a critical advisor and part of the Metropolitan Police's Trident Independent Advisory Group and offered this same service to the London Borough of Haringey. He was also a partner in Crying Sons; an organisation specialising in National Safeguarding and Public Health.

Bobby's sudden passing has sent ripples through the community and people from all of the fields that he contributed to are mourning the loss of a very unique and well respected man.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Bobby Martin at this time.

You are invited to leave messages of condolence on his Facebook page.

Rest in Power Mr Martin.
