Ciara on abstinence: 'We’re hanging in there but it’s hard'

LOVE WITHOUT SEX: Ciara with boyfriend, Russell Wilson

US SINGER Ciara has opened up about her and boyfriend Russell Wilson’s commitment to abstain from sex until they marry admitting that "it's not easy".

In a new interview with Cosmpolitan, the Body Party singer said of her 27-year-old beau: “I’m not gonna lie. I’m human, so it is not easy, especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen – that I’ve ever laid my eyes on, to be honest."

The mother-of-one joked that in most instances her best tactic is to simply look away: “I’m like, Look the other way! Look the other way!”

While the couple have chosen to abstain from intercourse, the 30-year-old says their definition of abstinence leaves room for affection.

“You get to hug and you get to have a nice good kiss, but you have to be careful not to go too far so you don’t end up in the place you’re trying to avoid being in,” she explained.

The decision to avoid sex for the Christian beliefs has aided the pair in “growing with each other".

"We get to have really healthy conversations and focus on each other as people. That is very important to me and him. It’s very valuable. We’re just enjoying ourselves and going one day at a time and praying and staying positive. Being strong here!”

The couple began dating in April last year but haven’t announced any plans to wed.

Wilson, who was married for two years to his high school sweetheart, explained their personal decision in an interview focused on his Christian faith.

He told Pastor Miles McPherson at San Diego’s Rock Church in July: “I said to her – and she completely agreed – ‘Can we love each other without that?’ If you can love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody.”

Ciara was previously engaged to rapper Future, with whom she shares 21-month-old son, Future Zahir.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed Ciara is suing her ex-fiancé for £10.5 million for libel and slander.

At the heart of the dispute are comments made by her rapper ex in the public domain calling into question her credentials as a mother and branding her a “b***h” with “control problems.”

Representatives for the singer told People magazine, “she only wants the best for their son.”
