Chris brown collaboration 'made sense'

DEFENCE: Rihanna defends her controversial collaboration with ex-beau Chris Brown

POPSTAR RIHANNA has defended her decision to collaborate with with ex-boyrfiend Chris Brown, claiming it 'made sense'.

The 23-year-old Talk That Talk singer said that she asked Brown, who was convicted of assaulting her in 2009, to appear on the remix of her song Birthday Cake because he is the "hottest R'n'B artist out right now"

In a interview with US TV and radio host, Ryan Seacrest, she said: "I reached out to him to do Birthday Cake because that's the only person that really made sense. Just as a musician, despite anything else, that was gonna be the person."

The singer also pleaded with her concerned fans, who have been clashing with Brown's supporters since the song was released earlier this month, to not 'divide' over her decision.

"There shouldn't be a divide," she said. "It's music and it's innocent."
