Celebrity friends and fans pay tribute to Mac Miller

TRIBUTES: Friends and fans of the young rapper have expressed shock and sadness at his sudden death

MAC MILLER has been found dead at his home, according to reports.

The 26-year-old rapper died of an apparent overdose and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to TMZ.

In a profile of Miller, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, published by Vulture just yesterday, he rapper revealed the struggles he faced with growing up in the public eye.

He said: “There’s pressure. A lot of times in my life I’ve put this pressure to hold myself to the standard of whatever I thought I was supposed to be, or how I was supposed to be perceived. And that creates pressure … It’s annoying to be out and have someone come up to me and think they know. They’re like “Yo, man, are you okay?” I’m like “Yeah, I’m f****** at the grocery store.” You know? It’s the job. This is what I signed up for. So, you just have to not. You have to have your own reality and that has to be the driving force of your life. Do I wish that every single thing I did when I was 19 wasn’t a discussion? Sure.”

Miller, who previously dated singer Ariana Grande, had publicly struggled with substance abuse.

In May, Grande responded to a fan’s comment that implied her actions were the reason he crashed his car while driving under the influence.

She said: “I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be.

“I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his s*** together is a very major problem. Let’s stop doing that.”

Celebrity friends and fans of the Best Day Ever rapper have begun to pay tribute to the young star.

Chance the Rapper tweeted: “I don’t know what to say. Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. I’m completely broken. God bless him.”

Wiz Khalifa said: “Praying for Mac’s family and that he rest easy.”

Solange tweeted: “Rest in your peace Mac Miller. Always exuded so much kindness and goodness. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us all.”

Jaden Smith, a friend of Miller's, shared a recent photo of himself and Miller.

He tweeted: "Long Live Mac Miller, Rest In Peace We Love You."
