LAST SATURDAY (18 November), the multiple award-winning Anna Fiorentini Theatre & Film School held its fourth Fiorentini’s Got Talent Competition, in which talented students from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Camden and Greenwich performed in front of a panel of industry professionals.

The celebrity panel included former Fiorentini students Tahj Miles, of CBBC’s Class Dismissed, West End productions Matilda and Bugzy Malone; Jayden Jean-Paul-Denis, from CBBC's Hank Zipzer; Alice de Sousa, executive producer of several highly acclaimed films including last year’s commercially successful A Street Cat Named Bob and Emma Sylvester, one of Britain's top casting directors.

Jessica Odeleye was crowned this year's winner, after she stunned the judges with her dance routine performed to Save Me. Jessica, a bursary student, is also a member of the Fiorentini Performance troupe, which tours to hospitals and care homes.

Sylvester said: “Jaw dropping talent which wouldn’t feel out of place on a West End stage or cinema / television screen. The Anna Fiorentini students are the stars of tomorrow, performing with integrity, honesty and confidence. A joy to witness and food for thought for my future casting projects.”

Each year, the competition attracts the very best of the school’s emerging talent, highlighting the driving force of young people within the arts. Previous winners include former student Jermain Jackman (2012), who later went on to win nationwide singing competition The Voice 2014.

Anna Fiorentini's theatre school was set up in 2001 as a Prince's Trust Business. Several of its students have gained leading roles on TV, Film and on the West End stage including Belinda Owusu (who played Libby Fox in Eastenders) and Jaden Oshenye (who played Fletcher in West End production 'The Bodyguard' alongside Beverley Knight).
