Camberwell shooting: one killed

CRIME SCENE: Police in Camberwell

POLICE HAVE opened a murder investigation after a man was fatally shot in Camberwell, south London.

Police were called to a flat in Southwell Road at 4.48am on Sunday morning (April 14), after receiving reports that a man had been shot.

The 23-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died after being taken to hospital.

Police believe they know the identity of the victim, but have yet to formally identify him.

Another man was also injured during the same incident, police suspect. The injured male presented himself at hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle – his injury is not life-threatening.

Homicide and Serious Crime Command detectives are investigating the shooting and no arrests have yet been made.

There was a party going on in a first floor flat on Southwell Road at the time of the shooting, and police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
