Call for witnesses after elderly lady is sexually assaulted

POLICE HAVE launched a public appeal to help track down a man who sexually assaulted an elderly woman waiting at a bus stop in north London.

The 79-year-old victim was attacked as she waited on March 1 on Fortis Green in Haringey.

The incident occurred at about 10.30am when a man was sitting opposite her on a fence and initiated a conversation.

He then sexually assaulted her before the number 102 bus arrived, which she boarded.

The suspect did not get on the bus.

The man police are looking for is described as black, approximately 30 years old, wearing a thick, dark coloured coat with a logo on the right sleeve and light blue jeans. He also wore a hood or a hat and a scarf.

No arrests have yet been made.

Detective constable Alex Peddie, said: “This attack took place in broad daylight on a very busy road.

“Were you in the area at the time of the assault or were you travelling on the route 102 as it pulled into the stop on Fortis Green? If you saw anything and can assist this investigation, please contact police.”
