Business student dies in hit-and-run collision

KILLED: Olatunji Adeyanju

SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD Olatunji Adeyanju was paid tribute to by his family today (March 26) following his hit-and-run death on Friday (March 23).

Known as TJ, Adeyanju died after his bicycle was hit by a car in Deptford Church Street in Deptford, south London, near his home.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failure to stop.

Business student Adeyanju was flown to King’s College Hospital where he passed away.

Several floral tributes have been left where the collision took place.

Adeyanju’s uncle and carer, Steve Gisanrin, who described Adeyanju as a ‘special guy’, said that the teenager was looking forward to visit his mother and father in Nigeria.

“TJ’s been with me since he was nine,” said Gisanrin.

“His parents live in Nigeria and the plan was that he would finish his education and go and see them later in the year.

“I was by his side at the hospital when his mother called. She said ‘I want to speak to my son’. I told her he was asleep. She said ‘He’ll wake up if he hears my voice’. He was already gone.”
