British Basketball League: London Lions sign Jerelle Okoro

BASKETBALL: Jerelle Okoro will play with the London Lions for the first time tonight

JERELLE OKORO has signed to the London Lions, following his release by the Manchester Giants.

Okoro, who plays guard, will make his debut in tonight’s London Lions home game against the Bristol Flyers.

Okoro said: “I’m beyond excited to play with the Lions. They all want to win so much and it’s an environment where I know I can get better. I’m ready.”

The newly-signed Lions player averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game last season in the British Basketball League.

London Lions boss, Vince Macaulay, said: “Jerelle is an exciting finisher and competitor. I’ve been watching his development for some time, he will benefit from the veterans we can put around him but his boundless enthusiasm for the game is there for all to see.”

The 26-year-old joined the Manchester Giants for the 2015/16 season where he made a name for himself as one of the teams stars.

The Manchester Giants described Okoro as a “firm fan’s favourite”. He was at the club for three years, making a total of 83 appearances.

Okoro, an alumnus of Hackney Community College, developed his basketball career through Loughborough University.

Outside of basketball, Okoro runs a soft drinks business called Tuice with his former Manchester Giants teammate Sam Lane.

Tickets for tonight’s London Lions v Bristol Flyers game are still available via Ticketmaster.
