Boy shoots his mother 'a dozen times'

SHOCKING: Joshua Smith [pictured], 14, allegedly killed, Tamiko Robinson, for not letting him join a gang

A TEENAGE boy has been accused of shooting his mother to death after she refused to let him go out.

Joshua Smith, 14, reportedly shot and killed Tamiko Robinson, 36, because she would not allow him to hang out with a crowd of local older boys over fears for his safety, reports The Detroit News.

Robinson, who was also battling lupus and receiving kidney dialysis, was said to have been attacked by her son when she forced him return home on Monday after he had ran away earlier that day.

It has been reported that Smith broke into his stepfather, Chiko Lewis' room to take his 12-gauge shotgun, before shooting throughout the house.

Lewis and Joshua's five-year-old sister were able to escape the shots by jumping out of a window.

The victim’s brother, LaShawn Roberts, said that his sister had been shot at least a dozen times at close range.

Speaking after Robinson’s death Lewis told the Detroit News: “He [Smith] brutally murdered her."

"It was overkill,” he added.
