Bolt 'not surprised' by latest drugs furore

LISTEN UP: Usain Bolt

SPRINT LEGEND Usain Bolt has revealed he is 'not surprised' by the drugs scandal currently engulfing track and field athletics.

Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson are some of the most high-profile athletes to have failed drugs tests recently ahead of the upcoming World Championships next month.

The Olympic 100m and 200m champion has insisted though that he is clean and has not taken performance enhancing drugs.

The 26-year-old said “it's going to set us back a bit,” adding that he hopes to "help people forget what has happened" with his own performances and stressing: "I am clean."

However, Bolt has had one text-message exchange with fellow Jamaican Powell since the former 100-metre world record-holder tested positive for the stimulant oxilofrone. Bolt said he told him, in the message, "to stay strong."

Bolt and a host of other top track and field stars will be in action on July 26 and 27 at the London Anniversary Games which marks a year since the London 2012 Games.
