Become one of the Best 100 Employers for Race 2017

RESPONSIVE: Sandra Kerr OBE, receiving her Queen's Honour in 2012

IN RESPONSE to a statement from The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) Director-General Carolyn Fairbairn, who called on businesses to prioritise diversity, Business in the Community, the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, urges employers to take action.

Applications are now being accepted for the Best 100 Employers for Race 2017 list, which closes on 2 June.

Sandra Kerr OBE, Race Equality Director at Business in the Community, says:

“Carolyn Fairbairn is right to urge business to prioritise diversity in order for the UK economy to flourish.

"We know that diverse organisations that attract and develop individuals from the widest pool of talent consistently perform better – a potential £24bn boost to the UK economy if employers get race equality in the workplace right.

"But this change has to be employer-led. The time for talking is over; now is the time to act.

“This is why we have launched an annual Best 100 Employers for Race list – which will create healthy competition, spurring employers to improve race diversity in their organisation. It will also highlight good practice that all employers can learn from."

The Best 100 Employers for Race list has been established in response to the independent Race in the Workplace Report by Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith, which called for a list to be established in order to achieve faster movement towards inclusive workplaces where race equality is ‘business as usual’.

The list has been publicly supported by Margot James MP, Minister for Small Business, Consumers & Corporate Responsibility and leading businesses, including BT.

Entry is free and open to any employer with a UK presence. The deadline for participation is 2 June 2017. Find out more and take part by clicking here.
