BEYONCÉ’S ICONIC April 2018 Coachella performance will go down as one of the most memorable performances in history for many reasons.

The mum of three took centre stage for a fiercely choreographed two-hour set, which brought out husband JAY-Z and a surprise reunion with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Furthermore, as the first black woman to ever headline the show, Queen Bey made sure that she did it for the culture.

In addition to this, her jaw-dropping wardrobe changes caught the attention of many, in particular the fuchsia and yellow ‘BAK’-lettered sweatshirts created by Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain.

On his masterful creation, Rousteing said: “What we all saw on those successive Coachella weekends was nothing less than iconic.

Her performance, message and music—along with the looks that we created together—made for one of those rare, indelible images that I believe will long remain in my generation’s collective memory."

“After experiencing that beautiful partnership, we weren’t ready to just walk away without adding one final, perfecting touch,” he added.

That “perfect touch” is a collection comprising of three ‘BAK’-lettered hoodies and three tees in colours pink, black and yellow.

Proceeds from the collection will help fund the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), the United States’ largest minority education organisation.

Through scholarships, advocacy and financial support, the UNCF works to ensure that American children of all races and from all backgrounds are able to attend college and graduate.

Collaborating with Beyoncé on her Coachella concert, Rousteing said “is destined to be one of the most important” and “treasured memories” of his career. “Why? Because Beyoncé,” he said.
