Arrest made in connection with murder of Tottenham man

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murder of Zafer Eren, who was shot dead outside his home in Southgate, have arrested a man in connection with the incident.

Shortly after the death of Mr Eren on April 18, police appealed for help in tracing Jamie Marsh-Smith, 22, and yesterday (Sep 30) were successful.

Marsh-Smith was arrested following a Metropolitan Police operation, supported by officers from Thames Valley Police. He remains in custody at a central London police station.

Another 20-year-old man was arrested at the same time on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in custody at a police station in the Thames Valley Police area.

Eren, 34, was fatally shot at about 7.21pm on Thursday, April 18. Witnesses said they saw a masked gunman flee the scene in a burgundy-coloured Peugeot 308.

The investigation into Mr Eren's murder continues and a substantial reward of up to £30,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Zafer Eren is offered.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with Eren’s murder – he is currently in custody awaiting trial on November 11 at the Old Bailey.
