Ancelotti dismisses talk of Sterling joining Real Madrid

RED HOT: Sterling in action for Liverpool (PA)

REAL MADRID coach Carlo Ancelotti has downplayed speculation over Liverpool ace Raheem Sterling making a move to the men in white.

The 19-year-old England winger is one of the most in-demand youngsters in the game following an explosive start to his fledging career on Merseyside, which has seen him rise to being a key player for club and country.

Liverpool take on Real on Wednesday in the Champions League for a group game, and Sterling will be eager to make an impression after much talk of the Spanish giants aiming to sign him.

However, Ancelotti dampened the hype and emphasised that his side already are spoilt for choice in attacking areas, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

The former Chelsea boss acknowledged Sterling’s “great quality” and called him “certainly one of the best in Europe,” but told The Sun, “we already have extraordinary talent here.”

The Italian added: “To think of another striker for the Real Madrid attack is really extremely difficult.

“It's clear that Sterling is not in our plans.”

Sterling played a vital role in helping Liverpool overcome QPR yesterday (Oct 19) in a closely fought Premier League clash which saw the Reds clinch a lucky 3-2 win.
