‘I’ll set up a campaign in my son’s memory’

MEMORY: Kevin Ssali

THE FATHER of murdered teenager Kevin Ssali says he plans to set up a campaign in the 14-year-old’s memory.

Sewa Ssali, 54, said he was going to do it because he wanted to honour his son and also because he didn’t want any others to go through what happened to him and his family.

“If I had the power to stop this happening to any other parent, I think it would be my dying wish. We will do everything possible in Kevin's memory," he told the Croydon Guardian newspaper.

He said he also didn’t know why anyone would want to harm his son.

Kevin, from South Norwood, was stabbed to death on September 17, shortly after getting off a bus in Burnt Ash Road in Lee, south London near where an old friend of his lives.

At the spot where he was attacked, a note said: "Kev You're An Angel. Luv U, Mama".

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with his murder and is to appear at the Old Bailey in London.

Investigators are still asking witnesses or anyone who could provide them with information on the case to come forward.
