‘An honour for Nottingham to host’

NOTTINGHAM FOREST: Club chairman Nicholas Randall QC

NOTTINGHAM FOREST chairman Nicholas Randall QC has told the Voice of Sport that the football club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is delighted to be hosting the Reggae Girlz this weekend.

Randall said: “It is a real honour for Nottingham Forest FC to be hosting the first ever Reggae Girlz match in the UK and Europe, against Forest Ladies on October 28. Mr Marinakis (inset right) and the board think that for the football club to be successful they need to forge a meaningful relationship with the community they represent.”

He added: “Nottingham is a city rich in history with a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community proud of their heritage.

“The city’s Jamaican and Caribbean diaspora, which started with Windrush 70 years ago, deserves to be celebrated and I hope that staging this fixture will prove a fitting and fun day out for everyone.

“Finally Mr Marinakis, the board and all at Nottingham Forest FC would like to congratulate the Reggae Girlz on qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.”
